My Hormonal Imbalance Journey

It was last year when we found out that I was diagnosed with hormonal imbalance.
It was unexpected because I know, and my family knows that I have irregular cycle of menstruation since I started having a period. Sometimes it will took two months for me before I will have my period, and some other times it will took two weeks of me having a period, plus menstrual cramps.  The longest time I got my period is within the span of two months. Yes two months, at the first two weeks I let it pass because I taught it was kind of a normal thing for me being irregular, but I got bothered when the bleeding doesn't stopped! Like what the hell is happening!

Within that two months, I experienced weak to normal flow, but most of the times it was a heavy flow, with clogged bloods. I consume five to eight pads a day! I felt dizzy sometimes, because of being low blood (luckily I did not passed out or anything)
I got frightened of course, but I refused to undergo a check up even if everyone around me was already scolding me to have myself checked (being a hard headed girl of course I continued to refuse), coz' I am positive that my period will just stop one day. I waited for that day, but it seemed not to came. So what I did was, I started to diagnose myself and started to form my own theories, and researched about what my case may be. I got only bothered, because I found out plenty of disorders related to what I am experiencing at that time, and I know that one of that might be my case. So the closest case that I assumed to be my case is this so called "PCOS" or the Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, and because I was frightened to know what really was that thing I am experiencing at that time, it took me two months, before I was forced to be checked up by a gynecologist.

I got my transrectal ultrasound (it is a kind of ultrasound where the ultrasound apparatus is inserted into your rectum, it kind of hurt of course, and I was so nervous and embarrassed at the same time, because I got a heavy flow that time, and me being naked with my doctor is a pain in my ass. Luckily my doctor was a girl, heck I would not take that god damn ultrasound if the doctor was a boy. ) The result was negative from PCOS ( my theory)  it is stated in there that I have no signs of cyst or any abnormalities in my ovary. For the second time I got an ultrasound the result was still the same, that is why the doctor assumed that it was hormonal imbalance, due to stress. She said that the common cause of it was stress, and she also said that in some cases it was normal to experience it at my age. I felt relieved of the result, but still worried of course.

She prescribed me a pill to stop the bleeding, and I was so thankful that it really did effect well, but the story doesn't end there, I researched about the symptoms of hormonal imbalance and it says that a person with hormonal imbalance may experience gain weight, extreme mood swings, anxiety, etc. (it depends on a person experiencing it)  and I realized that those symptoms are present on me, even my family agreed.
I remember that they often described me to be that so impulsive, and moody.  Even me! I noticed myself to be sensitive of many things, like being irritable most of the times, and I'm also experiencing being sensitive by some awful smell, and there are times I can't even taste or take food, it was like my stomach wouldn't digest it, so I kind of feeling nauseous sometimes.

Up until now I was battling with my hormonal imbalance every day, I am still taking pills just to maintain my period, but the moment I stopped taking it, I will start to have irregular period again.

This is to promote awareness to all the girls of my age, and as well as those in their early teenage years. Always be mindful of your health. Eat healthy food, exercise, take some vitamins, meditate and do not stress too much!

Invest more in your body health. We are all prone in experiencing this kind of thing, I'm just lucky enough that my case did not leveled up to any other serious ovarian disorder.

So girls! Please take note, if you are having irregular periods, experiencing menstrual cramps, and many other uncommon things during your red days, or even if you aren't experiencing anything, please have yourself checked at least once a year. Health and self awareness is a must.  Health is wealth!

xoxo
