Never lose the chance...

In today’s generation, internet has became our “go to” whenever we want to discover “something” from the past. Of course who would not dare to run to different social media platform when everything is just one click away… But did you know, where this information provided by us with the internet came from?  It’s from primary sources, and it has been passed from generations through generations, that is why we still have it today.

Let’s take a look back in the past, for sure “google” has the answer right away, but I know one source that can really feed our thirsty thoughts about the past! Yup, I knew one! and they witnessed, and experienced it first hand.  Do you want to know who?

Look for your grandma, or grandpa and ask them about their past life experiences, you would be amazed as they start talking, and start to reminisce things from their past. You’ll be flabbergasted  by their endless stories, that can beat “google”.  Through their stories, we can have a glimpse of the past without any sugarcoated words, nor proofread articles, they will going to tell it to you like an expert, and sometimes it’s so funny and cute as our elders are being an animated storyteller, because they just seem to enjoy and began to be carried away, sharing their experiences during their younger years, in different genres.

But you know what I have observe right now? This sort of grandchild ft. grandma/grandpa scene is being deleted in the canvass, because now… grandchild has found their new storyteller, or new information and entertainment provider. So they tend to spend most of their time chatting, scrolling, posting, or playing games with their gadgets. They can’t live without it anymore. That is why, when grandma/grandpa wants to tell stories, or need someone to talk to, they are not paying attention anymore, or sometimes they fake listen but they are just busy using their own mobile phones.

I pity for the youth, and not for the elders, why?

It is because they are losing  their chance to bond with their beloved elder ones. They are losing the chance to acquire wisdoms, that they can pass unto next generations. As they grow old, their grandma/grandpa’s gets more older. Remember that we cannot turn back time, you might regret not listening to their stories, you might regret not talking to them, you might regret everything as soon as their gone.

This is to remind the youth nowadays, to spend time with your grandparents, not only with them but also to all you beloved ones. Social media is always just right there 24/7, you can access it anytime and anywhere, but our elders? We can never tell whether we can be able to talk to them everyday, clock is ticking, and the world is uncertain. Don’t just ignore them. Don’t be annoyed with their loop of stories. What we have now, maybe gone tomorrow, so never lose a chance.

Try to let down of your phone, even just for a while and give attention to your love ones genuinely without any distractions, express how much you love them, and listen to them. They’ve gone through a lot, so they got a lot to share. Treasure those wisdoms. It is powerful.

I know soon we’ll all be having our own grandchildren, and for sure they will also going to ask about the “past” or your past, “what are the trends during your younger years”, “what do you do during those days”, or “what about your great grandparents, do you have any ideas about them? “ yeah.. they’ll probably going to ask you questions like that. Now think about it, who would’ve want to tell their grandchildren, that they only spent most of their time, with their gadgets during their younger years? Who would’ve want to be shameful in front of their future grandchildren asking about their great grandparents, coz’ you got no stories to tell, because you know nothing at all and you lose the chance to know  it?  Of course we won’t let that happen.

So now I am giving the floor to you… Yes you. Let down of your phone, communicate, and make life happen.
